Len,
The DTV1080 apparently responds to the old Zenith 5-bit set top box protocol. I have never seen a discrete power command for that since the commands set is limited to 32 commands.
So I would try the Sony satellite discrete power commands found under the discrete section here at RC.
Please let us know if this works.
