Rather than start my own thread I thought I would bump this one. How dumb can Panasonic be? Is it really possible that they could have released their latest generation Plasma's without discrete ON IR codes and then leave their customer support people so oblivious and uninformed on the subject.
I bought the TH-42PX20 because it had the best price performance ratio out there in 42" plasmas. I don't really regret the purchase, it is a great TV... but, if the thing really doesn't have a discrete ON command I would really like PANASONIC to own up to it and issue an appology. I don't think anyone bought these sets for a low-end home theater and I think everyone who did buy one would probably not buy a Panasonic product again because of how they have handled this issue (or let say ignored the issue). So, Panasonic, do you hear that, do you get me? I will never buy another Panasonic product because of how you handled this.
