I don't think the RS-232 commands can help you find the IR commands.
Typical projectors can be controlled more easily and more completely by RS-232 than by IR, but even when there are IR commands matching the function of RS-232 commands, I haven't seen any relationship that might let you deduce the IR command from the RS-232.
So knowing the RS-232 commands is only useful if you plan to control the projector with a computer.
But maybe Jon knows something about this that I missed.
