I need help with using the Hex codes for the Sony VPL-CX5
Remote Commander found here: [Link: remotecentral.com]

My friend's projector RC was lost & the replacement has
been difficult to find in these location where we are.

Can I use these IR codes to program a off the shelf Universal
Remote Controller?
What would I need to do that?

Can a normal URC intended for replacing RCs of domestic
devices be programmed using a computer with some software?

You can get a much less expensive One for All URC-8820, URC-6690 or Radio Shack 15-100, and they will have a built in setup code (TV/0834) that should give you some of the keys on that link (power, arrow keys and enter). You will be able to add the other functions by reprogramming the keys on the remote using advanced codes. I don't think there will be a way to do the right and left click this way though.

I can show you how to do this if you are interested in going this route. It involves a lot of punching in codes on the remote, or getting a JP1.x cable to connect the remote to the computer to program and upload a upgrade file to the remote.
