there's a method to program codes dirctly to the sbc

Is that explained in the pdf documentation, or somewhere else online?

I did
it with my tv (code 004), device tv (installed as 003)
and button 1. When testing it, the key for program 4 was
pressed, not for ext1.

It's too hard to guess which kind of number is which to understand what you said there.

There are three digit numbers that I think represent code sets (index into a library of protocol and system and key mappings).

There are other three digit numbers that represent individual commands.

I think what you said was you test command code 004 with code set 003 and the result was the same as pressing just the digit 4 of your original TV remote.

Digit 4 is command 004 in RC5 system number 0. So maybe code set 003 is system 0, or maybe you didn't really select code set 003, or maybe I misunderstood you entirely.

Now it tried device 000 with code 057 for EXT2 and it
worked.

EXT2 is command 057 in system 0, so you seem to be able to send any command you want in system 0, but haven't yet found a way to send any command in system 3.

In RC5, there are just command number 000 through 127 in each system, not 000 through 255.

Adding 128 to a command code number might make no difference or it might select a different system number or it might send garbage. But anyway it should be easy enough to test.

128+4 is 132, so that should be a good one to test. If you're really luck it will be the command you want (system 3, command 4). If 132 acts just the same as 004, you'll at least know that is the way the RU880 behaves.

Unfortunately
I have to check all codes form 000 to 255.

Not much point to that. If a given code set has command 004 sent in system 0, I'm sure at least all the other commands 000 through 127 will also be in system 0.
