Here is a web page listing the PS2 IR codes:

I don't know how different the PS3 codes may be. But the PS3 signals discussed in this thread match the PS2 signals on that page.

If anyone has info on IR signal differences between PS2 and PS3, please give them to the maintainer of that page so they will be available in that form for others.

To use MakeHex, use Sony20.irp and set Device=26.218 to generate the signals documented on that page, then set Device=26.73 to generate the DVD signals that were referred to on that page and documented on:

IIUC, the arrow keys on the PS2 and PS3 remotes send both the PS2 arrow functions and the DVD arrow functions, but the PS2 and PS3 only listen to the PS2 arrow functions, not the DVD arrow functions. Has someone checked that carefully? Does that apply in all modes in which aroow keys are meaningful? Or are there sistuations in which the PS2 or PS3 needs the DVD arrow signals?

IIUC, many other PS2/3 functions are ordinary DVD functions and the PS2/3 remote sends only the DVD signal (26.73) for those functions.
