just go into your computers setup and take your com1 off automatic settings change the i\o range to anything else( usually what com 4 was), then change your input/output range for the com 4 device to 03f8-03ff .i had to do this when i blew out my laptops serial port and had to use a usb to serial adapter. works perfectly with crestron, pronto ect.
