I guess I should know this if I actually studied the Denon instructions, but what are the 3.5mm remote links on some of the Denon products for?

Could you use them instead of an IR emmitter (how would this work?)
If you had two Denon components connected with this link could you hide one away in a cabinet and use the other components' IR receiver to control the hidden component?

Just wondering as I hate using IR emmitters on the front of components and I'm sure alot of people either know or would like to know the answer to this question.

Any help from the pros greatly appreciated.
