I am not a pro but I can't believe any pro would not want to install these inside for a nice clean look. I did everyone of my components that way. I cut the red lens on the seam to expose just the emitter inside. I open the unit and wire tie it to the internal receiver or something close by. Before I put the case back I always check to make sure it is functional. I did my DTC-100 like this. You have to remove the front panel also to get to the internal receiver. If I can do it you pro's should be doing that on all your high priced installs.
I go into hi-end theatre setups all the time and notice how crappy those emitters look on the front of a component. JMHO :)
