I'm in no way an expert on this, but ...
I have been able to connect the IR out of an Elan system to a Xantech block.
I tried it first with the 789-44, but it was unreliable.
I'm now using a 791-44 amplified block instead of the 789 and it works much better. I'm guessing the signal comming out of the Russound system isn't strong enough to drive all the emitters connected to the 789-44 without being amplified.
