I see only one issue here avdude, that being the reflections caused by the cabinet material within the recess. If the wood is laquered then you may be knackered - "i thank you" - you will also have to size the image well. If running CRT then use blanking to curb any overscan. I don't know of any LCD or DLP having blanking. So long as the aspect ratio of the screen and the aperature in the cabinet match the image aspect, you should be ok.
