There could be a number of problems but current Pioneer and Sony products have extremely easy IR to deal with and the Audioplex or Xantech work well(I am prejudiced against Niles with their series connection scheme because troubleshooting is a pain). Look towards faulty emitters/flashers or incorrect wiring or emitter placement. Break down the IR system and try one known working emitter on each of the components one at a time. LOL
