Hi All,

First time poster, but been following the threads. Got an interesting one for you. I use the Xantech receiver and emitters (480 receiver and 286M emitters), being managed directly by an Anthem AVM20 which has built in IR reciever/blaster support.

All was working well for about 6 months, then yesterday the IR Emitters seemed to stop working, although the lights would come on, indicating they were getting signal. the receiver was fine since I could control volume on the Anthem.

After some head scratching figured what the heck, swapped in a new set of the 286M emitters, and all was well again. Figured, odd that the Emitters would go bad, but thought ok, a fluke and move on.

today (one day later), the new set of the 286M stopped working again. This time, their lights don't even blink. plugged in the old set along side it into the AVM, the old set lights blink , but neither works.

So before I try this insanity with another set of the emitters, any ideas?

Note that have had lots of ESD (static electricity) problems in the room (but it has been ongoing for a few months).

could static buildup cause the emittesr to go bad? now the emitters are NOT in the same room, but in AV closet, the emitter is in the room with the static.

looking for ideas, anyone?

Separately, any suggestions for fixing the ESD? I'm looking for static control carpet sprays, etc. the good old Static Guard work, but only for a short time.

Thanks all
Farid
