Good luck in getting your license for security Tim. You have to have proof of at least 6 years of experience or 3 years of experience in management. I moved to Florida from Mississippi where I installed security systems for 6 years and was a member of the MS Alarm Association but Florida wont accept that as experience because the state of Mississippi doesnt require licensing for alarm installers. You should know all about the licensing though if you are installing home theaters or structured wiring because Florida and California both require certification for low voltage wiring. You DO have your low voltage license, right?????? Also the next test for the security license is not until November but you have to QUALIFY to take it. The only saving grace for my company to get licensed is that my father is a registered PE and has his masters degree and that supersedes having to show proof of experience even though he has the same alarm experience I do. Florida is tough to get licensed in but for good reason.
