Ed, The combination wall housing dmc1hc is designed to be installed in a standard 2 x 4 wall. After speaking with you and learning that your install was in a 2 x 6 wall this is definitely the problem. This 2 x 6 application is creating too large of a gap between the dmc1hc wall housing and the dmc1f combination frame. This is what is putting pressure on the front cover of the dmc1cd preventing it to properly snap into place. Adjusting the depth of the wall housing will resolve this problem.
I will be sending you a new front cover for the dmc1cd since the tree receptacles on yours are worn from constantly having to adjust it.
