Learned this one the HARD way. For the dance floor area, go with pro sound equipment!!! JBL, Peavy, etc. With LOTS of power.
I do both venues, home and bars.
The home arena offers excellant 'imaging'; the bar LOUD !!! When you get 3 or 4 hundred people in a 'drinking' enviorment, power, combined with the speakers to handle it, wins!
If you try to use home quality compenents for this application, you'll be sorry!!!
I primarily use Crown amps for this situation, not 'high end', but affordable and bullet proof.
You need to develope a relatonship with some one that already has these products, or find a way to get a dealership.
But, don't think you can use these products in the home. The 'hiss' will drive you crazy! You don't notice the noise in a public area, but, you will in the home!
I play in a band with a guy that sells these products,so, I have a 5% above cost product line to offer (he doesn't do installations) and he is willing to "get his name out there" on a product only situation.
