Well I just talked to Toshiba on the phone. Apearently
since i just bought this player even as is, its still
under warrenty. They are sending me a brand new one for
free. I did email them and this is the response.....

Regrettably, blablabla...Our remotes are pre-programmed at the
factory to work our products automatically, so there is
no "code number" by which they operate or need to be set
up.
In other words, they have no part in whether a Radio Shack remote will work. You should have called the Shacklets because it's their remote that needs the code.
Other remotes will have codes for different brands of
products. In the remote's instructions, if "Toshiba"
is listed under the product that you're trying to control,
then the codes given for Toshiba would each need to be
checked in order to see which, if any, are the frequency
to which your particular product will respond. If there
is no response, then I recommend you contact the manufacturer
of the remote to see if they have another code that will
work or a search method to find a working code.
By the way, they're not using the word "frequency" correctly. Yes, the frequency of the code matters, but they use the word as if the frequency is the only issue. That's like saying you can read any book on the planet if the ink is black. Well, no. All the other details of the code have to be correct, too.
