Does it cut out when Dolby Digital or DTS is specifically selected on the receiver? I have noticed that some receivers out there have an "Auto" selection that is supposed to sense what the signal is and automatically select the right mode. Some of the earlier ADA Cinema Refs would get messed up when in Auto mode was selected and there was a quiet passage in the audio track, the receiver would try to switch back and forth to guess what it should be set to, thus it would cut out now and then. I don't know how the Sony's react, haven't worked with one in a while, and actually now that I think of it the last one I worked with didn't have "Dolby" or "DTS" actually listed as a sound mode to avoid the licensing thing.
