use your fists! those are my favorite tools.

I'm assuming that this is a HD cable box or Sat. box. if that's the case try resetting the box. usually if you have the box powered on you can hold the power button (on the unit, NOT the remote) untill it reboots. then you power it back up after the time shows. at least that's how cable boxes USUALLY work...

if that dosn't help do the following:
1-check connections (see if they're loose)
2-try a different wire
3-try a different input (like if it's in digi1 try digi2)
4-try a different type of cable, if possible (If it's Opti then try Coax and vice versa)
5-Manually set the processing type. Like Ceied said, DTS and Dolby can somtimes get confused..

If THAT dosn't help then call your service provider and have them send you a new box. that box is busted.

In fact, if you've got Time/ Warner or an SA8000 then just have them replace it anyway.
