The HD setup trick only works on 8300 boxes in my experience... I hope I'm wrong for your sake...
On the Cablevision system, the 0 works without exit as a power on. If you push 0, and nothing else, it just flashes ???? a couple of times and goes to the last channel ( if you have the last channel option set in the menu)
