The last two posts addressed the most important point; 'what' is being pushed down the RGBHV cable. I'm shocked Ernie didn't scold any of us yet, he must be going soft.
Lower resolutions still look fine farther, but another variable is how big the image is; that can make some of the symptoms Other pointed out more noticeable.
By rules I used to live under at commercial CI's, and my own experience, 1024x768 (XGA) will still look alright at 100' on good RGBHV cable on a 100" diag screen running Excel. If you're just running to another monitor, you could probably cheat. If you have high performance demands, then spend the cash on an amp.
Just don't run 214 feet, then it won't work at all LOL.
