Ideally, yes. You can also change the amount of time
before it kicks in. BUT, I have YET to actually have
it WORK! On ANY reciever! SUCKS! I like to leave HD
demo channels on at the showroom when Im not there. Have
to use DTV due to this "feature" w Dish.
I believe the receiver still shuts down late at night to update the guide info.Any Dish
ir command will wake it from it's sleep.I dont think volume will work becuase its for the TV not the actual receiver,something along the lines of the cancel button should work.
Before it shuts down to update the guide it will ask to shut down,cancel will stop that from happening.
