Yes I tried the cross cable I was using for my Sharp TV with the same result. It had pin 2 and 3 swapped.

Is it possible to test the serial port, with a multi-meter? Does the RS-232 port need to be enabled somehow?

What response should I get in hyperterminal if I type an incorrect command?

How good can it be, if it isn't HD?
