It was difficult, yes.
I had to mark out all the shelf positions and then remove
them. Prepare all the cables to length, attach a cable
tie to the wall behind each piece of equipment and attach
all the wiring to the wall as one big loom. Then i put
each shelf back in with all the wiring for that device
resting on top. Then i could install the gear. A lot of
work but very neat cables.

You need to, on jobs like thins, quote with rack and without. Typically showing 12 extra hours of labor and and extra $300 for longer cables will be enough to swithc them to the rack.
