My Sony Hi-8 video camera came with a small remote that was limited to the most basic functions including zoom in/out, REC, and VCR transport funtions. It turned out that it would also control another sony camera I had that did not come with it's own remote.

I'm assuming your cameras ARE remote controllable. If so, check canon's product line for a simpler camera with a simpler remote. That remote may well work their more complicated cameras too. I know I can buy the sony camera remote alone. You should be able to buy any canon camera remote alone too, in whatever quantity you need.

Also, look over OneForALL's complete product line. Surely they have a one or two device remote with learning ability. If they don't, they should. Every motel room I've ever been in could use one.
