I'm sorry about the layout, that's how it is created by the software that I use, in fact I removed alot of info that would have only confused the matter even more. Most of the info is not needed for your purposes, so to use you ??? layout, I'll leave ??? in the places where the values are not important...

The key ingredient that you are missing comes from the line before that statement:

DVD code 0522:

If you program the DVD button to device 0522, you will find that code 227 will select the DVD input on your receiver.

If you can find a button on your C7 that is unused in all device modes, you could make this button the all-purpose input select button. If you had the learning version you could have used one of the smart keys, maybe you could use one of the macro buttons, let's say you pick 'macro 1' (M1), you could program the input select code for each device to that button under each device mode.

For example, let's set up your DVD.
First program the DVD button to device 0522, then program code 227 to the M1 button, then re-program the DVD button to whatever the code is for your actual DVD player (the 227 code will remain on the M1 button.

It appears that RCA uses the same code from each device code to select the input on their receivers, so code 227 from a DVD code will select the DVD input, 227 from a VCR code will select the video input, so following that theory my guess is that you could use code 227 from a CD code to select the CD input. If this is true you could try programming the CD button to device code 0053 and then program the M1 button to code 227 and it will probably select the CD input for your receiver.

Hopefully that isn't too confusing, if you have any difficulty with any of the steps involved, just post back here and I'll try to step you through it.
