I have the same feeling about the remote. (URC-8060/Finland) Had it for a week and though the batteries were finished. I had symptoms similar to les. So i just removed batteries and inserted them back. Id it has worked fine since that ( two weeks).
Before battery stuff it didnt want to learn new codes and didnt send singals to my tv (Philips 8806)every time. WeŽll see how things turn out to be...
