Thanks for the reply Jon. The model number of my remote is URC-2099. I tried 269 and 891. Neither worked. My remote uses three digit codes - the zeros in front of 0269 and 0891 can be ignored right? It would be nice to be assured that the AUX device key is the right one to use.
As for JP1, I have three holes not six and there is "J1" - not "JP1" - stamped on the circuit board near the holes. I use a Macintosh not a PC, I don't own a soldering iron and it all sounds like too much hassle. I would however, be willing to ship my remote to someone and pay for the "service" if it came to that.
In your last sentence, what are command numbers? In addition to the device code of 022, the tech also gave me the following RC-5 numbers:
mute - 084 vol down - 023 vol up - 022 (not a typo)
The tech says he might have vol up and down transposed.
