I've had a lot of trouble with my IR distribution system -- a xantech -- in my home theater setup.
I finally got things pretty dependible by using the trick of putting a few layers of masking tape over the xantech receiver (as many posts have suggested), and that allowed me to finally control things pretty dependibly so long as I was more or less pointing at the receiver. But my wife really pushed me to fix things so we wouldn't have to point at all, so I got myself an rf remote (urc 9910, which I will eventually use to upgrade a RS2116).
Anyway, I'm back to square one in making this dependible. If I put the Xantech receiver right on the rf transmitter (or on the rf transmitter extender), it clearly overpowers the xantech, and I haven't been able to find the right mix of tape to get this to work reliably.
Is the real solution to perhaps throw a resistor in series with the xantech receiver or the rf transmitter extender? Anyone else have this problem?
