John Fine has been our principal extender writer and he doesn't feel like writing one for the 15-2116, the prime reason being that he doesn't own one but in addition to that, it's harder to write extenders for LCD remotes.
There are a couple more guys that have started looking into writing extenders, so all hope is not lost.
However, of all the remotes out there, the 15-2116 needs an extender the least, because it allows you to program macros, etc to the device buttons, which is one of the principal reasons that people use extenders.
As for using the learning memory for other purposes, if an extender is not available, it is still possible to use the memory you have in a sensible manner to achieve great results. For example, I'm not using an extender on my 15-1994 and I have it programmed to work 13 devices! My setup file is in the IR.exe zip and in the User Config folder.
