1269 is quite similar to 1189. Did I misunderstand your first post. I got the impression very little of 1189 worked. If so, then most of 1269 wouldn't work either. If most of 1189 worked, then 1269 MIGHT correct the rest.

Most of the functions 1269 has that 1189 lacks are available as advanced codes from the setup code CD/1120 (The 8810 doesn't care about the difference between a CD setup code and a RCVR one, so you can select that as if it were a RCVR setup code). Using 1120 the EFC numbers are:

044 power
111 menu
175 up
207 down
014 left
238 right
015 select

I hope you know how to test EFC codes. If you test and discover they work, you can use KeyMoves to merge them into whatever setup code you will be using for other functions (DVD/0539 or RCVR/1189 or whatever).

If you test (correctly) but discover those don't work, then 1269 wouldn't be useful, so it is either not necessary or not helpful.

Getting and using a JP1 cable is still a better idea than either sending it in for upgrade or patching it with KeyMoves.

BTW, the power key in 1120 is the same as the power key in 1269, so you can test that without knowing how to test EFC number (the 044). The CH+ and CH- keys in 1120 are the same as those keys in both 1189 and 1269. The 1 key in 1120 is the same as 7 in both 1189 and 1269. The rest of the predefined keys in 1120 are useless, its primary value is that (unlike 1189 or 1269) it can be used for EFC numbered KeyMoves.
