What was teh setup code assigned to the device
button when you tested these EFCs, was it still
the TV/0761 code? If so, I'm surprised that any
of the codes did anything as I was under the impression
that this TV used the Philips RC-5 protocol and
was a much closer match to TV/0054, though we've
already established that there's a button in that
setup code that causes the same symptoms that
you have, though we don't know which button.

It was TV/0054. I just verified it. Set it to TV/0761, and then tried codes 114, 115 and 116. Nothing. Switched to TV/0054 and then tried the same codes. TV blows up on 115 repeatedly. Must be physically disconnected from power before it responds again.

thanks

Tom

[Edit; don't know why, but I find this fascinating]
[Edit again; I forgot to say that code 115 changes the menus back into Chinese]
