Wow, sounds very much like my setup. Marantz RCVR, JVC TV and Sony 5 disc DVD. You shouldn't have any problems setting yours up to work just as you like. Your dad's, though, you may have to get some help from a Sony guru like Edmund for the receiver. Can't tell about the TV or DVD unless you have brands. The Toshibas are some of the worst in terms of not offering many discrete code options.
