To use the EFC's you need to use code 0158 or
0159, none of the other sony codes accept advanced
codes. Your model of 9960, only take 5 digit EFC's,
so you would need to add two zeroes to the FRONT
of each 3 digit code you got from OFA.

The reason that UEI switched to the 5-digit format was specifically so that 2-byte combo codes like all those Sony codes, would support EFCs. They also made it backward compatible with the old EFC lists (by letting you just add 2 zeroes in front).

If you were to look at the EFC lists that Emrys was given by UEI you would see that the first 2 digits are not zeroes.

The following setup codes use old style EFCs:
0010 - Sony 18, 24
0158 - Sony 16, 13
0159 - Sony 12, 13
0220 - Sony 19
0689 - Sony 255, 0
0815 - Sony Egg 12, 16

The following setup codes use new style EFCs:
1058 - Sony Combo
1158 - Sony Combo
1258 - Sony Combo 26.57
1558 - Sony Combo 26.57, 26.73
1658 - Sony Combo 26.73, 16.16
1758 - Sony Combo 26.73, 26.98
1759 - Sony Combo
1858 - Sony Combo 26.73, 16.16
