Just as an aside, I've never understood this argument (and I've heard it a LOT). What difference does it make what the DVD player cost? If it's worthless without a remote, you'll need to buy one. If I sold you a car for $40, would you junk it once it needed a $30 oil change?
Anyway, if you try again to determine the code that gives you the mis-labelled buttons, John might be able to determine what code you need.
