Thanks johnsfine for all your guidance.
I think that remote has a blink-back operation that can
tell you which setup code number is currently set.

There is such an option and way it does it is that it blinks # of times for each of 4 digits of the code.
Either this option does not work OR code is 0000 b/c it did not blink back at all when I tested all 4 digits. Manual did say that it would not blink if # is 0.

If a setup code gets any response, that is actually quite
close to being able to identify the exact code set. If
you can tell us which setup code number has some response,
we probably can deduce a lot. It would also be very helpful
to know which buttons trigger which functions of the DVD.

#0 and play button = sets language option
#1 button = slow motion by frames
#2 button = open/close dvd tray
#3 and #6 button = no response
#4 button and + volume button = forward a chapter
#5 button = brings up dvd root menu
#7 button = stop
#8 button = power
Stop button = play
Info display button = speeds up x2, x4 or x8
Rewind and fast forward button = does not perform this function!
Enter button = no response
The above are most of the buttons.

RCA IR signals never act the way you describe (so that
you would get a wrong response, rather than no response
when using a wrong setup code in a universal remote).
That means the DVD you have uses non RCA IR signals.

I forget which Radio Shack models have various UEIC features,
such as EFC keymoves. If your model has those and you
start with a setup code that gets some response, you can
then individually program buttons to get the correct response.

Unfortunately, no feature that lets me individually program :(

So does the above tell you anything helpful on what correct code may be?

Thanks again. Kind Regards, MClay
