Most of the time IR will pass through glass. Again tented glass or color glass is less effective. Also take into account where you will be using the remote. Try to stay away from areas where you have high amounts of light. Also if you get more than about 30 degres off of line of sight. ( 90 degres to your AV equipment) the glass will start to work as a mirror and begain to deflect IR and bounce it off to another part of the room. I run into this problem on a weekly basis as a AV installer.
