a web link, but on our regional news recently there was
a story of a man born of British parents, (in one of the
African countries), who came to this country when he was
one year old, spent 14 years in the army, had several
jobs after leaving the army, has now been made redundant,
but has been denied unemployment benefit because the government
don't consider him to be a British citizen. The government,
however, aren't completely heartless, if he pays them
£600 he can apply.

At a time when we’ve been swamped by an influx of east
Europeans (around 600,000 – with the prospect of more
to come), stories like this make one feel like forgetting
the tea and reaching for the grog.
