I would suggest that's more a political rather than geographical boundary.

A bit like my West Country accent, the more southerly one goes (Somerset/Devon), the stronger it gets. And for those who don't know, Cornwall has, quite literally, a
language all of its own.

When visiting Lancashire (seeing the outlaws) I tend to drift into a cod Yorkshire, just to wind them up. It's quite hilarious hearing them trying to reciprocate.
