The biggest problem for many teacher / student relationships
is a parent who doen't care.

I beleive the latter to be true. Of course not every child is smart or a high acheiver. As a parent of two identically raised children, they are what they are. You can nurture, teach, read, explore all you want, but every kid has their own path in life. And boy are my two different!

Bottom line is, this whole anti-competitive spirit does nothing but set kids up for failure in life. Case in point below, The kid on the left will wind up running his company, the kid on the right will be a disgruntled gopher in a cubicle farm.
