Some of those fifth graders are actually pretty smart!
I went to the Department of Motor Vehicles the other day
with my brother, and one of the questions the gal asked
was where he was born... which was LIMA, Peru.
She looked up with a deer in the headlights look, and
said... "Where is that"?
She was, I'm guessing 30 years old or more. Pretty scary
huh?

Yes, the system sucks. It's kind of funny, but I have some friends like that.
My roommates went to less fortunate schools growing up. Both very smart, one double majored, and the other working on his masters. The schools don't teach them s#it. The barely ever took a history or geography class. I knew more about these subjects in grade school then they do now.
Anyway, the systems sucks. Just hope I can send my kids to private schools when I have them. Nothing is expected in most public schools, therefore nothing is accomplished.
