When a newbie accidentally stumble into the Intermission forum, it kinda reminds me of Monty Python's "argument sketch".

LCP, just FYI, the Intermission forum is where all the regulars get to let off some steam and have some fun, so when someone stumbles in here with a "serious" question, they're fair game.

Anyway, back to your question, I haven't heard of a ceiling fan that is controlled by IR. If they were to be remote controlled at all, I would imagine that RF is much more likely as it doesn't require direct line of sight.

However, it does appear that someone has at least invented an IR controlled ceiling fan:
