I was having the problems getting discrete codes to work with my Sony TV (model KV-35V35).

Using the web site below, I bought a Radio Shack remote that has a "Magic Key" that allows you to transmit "Advanced Codes". So after setting the Radio Shack remote to the right code for my TV. I was able to press the "Magic Key" (Set up?) and the 3 digit Advance Code for a function and it worked.

Once I figured out which advance code I needed. I trained my Palm Pilot by entering the "Magic Key" and Advance Code.
