Derek: There is no comparison with the Pronto... it is a dedicated Universal Remote Control. But the OmniRemote/ORDesktop combination is highly functional and also allows you to have other things on your remote.
And with OmniRemote 2 coming out soon, there is a programmers interface that will allow programmers to add functionality to the remote software that is not doable on any other remote. Possibly, tying in with Databases, or wireless TV listing updates, etc. Could be endless.
And yes, you will be able to control all of your devices, providing they use IR frequencies that are in OmniRemotes range, which is a pretty standard range.
And yes, it supports macros for turning multiple piece of equipment on and off.
The only thing that the actual software will not do is increase your range. You will need an IR strengthener or an IR repeater.
