If you learn the code in ccf-mode they are written back into the ccf. So you can transfer the file back to the PC and edit it in ProntoEdit, as you would with any other Pronto file.(I hope that was your question)
I don't know anything about a ceased developement, but to fix bugs seems not to be their intention. They only build in new features...
