The Nevo CIR in the iPAQ H39xx & H54xx is a combination of both hardware and software. It's licensed from UEI, the company that sells the One for All and Kamelion remotes. X-10 used to manufacture all of the OFA remotes but I'm not sure who owns the IR database they use.

Currently, no third party software will work with the Nevo hardware. My guess is that the license fees UEI wants are prohibitive for most third party developers.

Third party software uses the IrDA emitter which means range is severely limited.

I imagine that TR's IR dongle would work but you'll have to ask them or check their compatibility list to be sure.

IOW, you're stuck with the Nevo software if you want to use their hardware.
