I suggest you get your facts straight before accusing
me of saying something I've never said. I believe
that's called libel.
Shorting the internal contacts as I suggested
will (in addition to voiding the PDA warranty)
put your output on the PDA speaker. Whether or
not it will damage the speaker depends on the
specifications of the speaker but I doubt many
PDA designers would have anticipated a maximum
volume signal at this frequency. Since I strongly
recommended against doing it, it's hard to see
how you could contend I'm frightening your customers.
Whoa, Dave. You have misinterpreted my meaning and intent, due I'm sure to my somewhat flippant and humorous writing style. I never meant to insult you, and I did not really have any concern about frightend customers. It was a joke and it was meant in a spirit of playful levity. That was what the winkie at the end was for; to try to remove any possible doubts about whether or not I was grimly serious.
I recently lost most of my business E-mail correspondence, so I was not too surprised when I looked for our E-mail exchange and was unable to find anything. I honestly thought you were the gentleman I had conversed with on this exact topic since you said exactly what he had said many months ago. It was wrong of me to attribute any quote to you without being absolutely certain of the quote, so again I apologize for the mistake.
