Thanks. Yeah, I didn't think about the reconnection delay. That would kill that at least for the first hit.

The IR in the dell must just not be good enough. I have a programmable remote that can learn the code and works flawless. The dell can learn the code, but doesn't reliably activate the function. I've tried relearning it. Also, the programs don't seem as good at learning as basic learning remotes.


One thing I liked about the wifi approach, is that I would have an HTPC that's always on with an IR blaster connected to it. Then I could control the stereo and switch xm stations from anywhere in the house.
