I've got all my AV gear in a rack, off in another room,
not in line of sight. I've been using an MX-3000 RF remote
to control it and that works well. I'd like to have a
way to use my new WM6 PDA (a Verizon XV6800 phone running
wm6) to control the gear in a similar fashion. I have
no desire to try using the IR interface on it. I'd like
to be able to send the commands to a PC over IP connections.
I can do it either with the EVDO internet connection
(presuming I have the outside firewall configured to pass
the traffic) or via WiFi on the home network.
I'm aware this would require some program running on a
PC to handle translating the received IP commands from
the remote out to IR. I've got a USB-UIRT that could
be used for the purpose.
So, is anyone's PDA remote software capable of doing this?
As far as I know the upcoming RemoteControl II, v3.0 can handle this:
