I might as well throw in my 2-cents...er..$12 on the all-consuming topic of improving the RF capability of our beloved remote.
Go to RadioShack and picku up Cat# 20-006A which is a telescoping antenna for portable scanner and walkie talkies. Its frequency is adjustable by extending upper or lower segment of the antenna. I put a BMC connector at the end of the regular inferior cable that exits the RF-6 box without any other mods. In my case, I keep the antenna extended and laying horizontal inside my equipment cabinet.
Check it out. If it doesn't work for you, simply return it RadioShack. I would be interested in hearing from you if it worked or didn't work for ya.
Stay tuned. I am looking into modifying the battery so it doesn't cost a fortune to replace.
